The war of 1812 was fought between the United States and Great Britain from June 1812 to the spring of 1815. It was mostly fought on the Atlantic Ocean, and on the land, coasts, and waterways of North America. There were three major causes for the war. One of them being a series of trade restrictions introduced by Britain, another reason was the impressment of U.S citizen into the Royal Navy . The last reason was the British Military support for American Indians. Later on they started negotiating, and on December 24, 1814, diplomats from two countries signed the Treaty of Ghent. This was ratified by the Americans on February 16, 1815.
